Mr. and Mrs. Harm Busman

Fifty-two years of marriage will be celebrated by Mr. and Mrs. Harm Busman of route two, Coopersville, on Thursday, April 16.

Mr. and Mrs. Busman are living on their farm west of Coopersville, although six years ago Mr. Busman retired and leased his farm to his youngest son, Henry.

Mr. Busman was born in Germany on 2 July 1859, and came to this country when he was about eighteen years old. Mrs. Busman was born in Holland on 18 November 1870, and came to America when she was about fifteen. Both came directly to Coopersville upon reaching this country, and have made their home there since that time.

They were married on 16 April, 1890, by Henry j. Boerk, pastor of the Reformed church at Coopersville.

Eleven children were born to them, seven of which are now living. They are: Fred of Nunica, Albert of Spring Lake, Ambrose of Coopersville, Mrs. Frank Gunneman of Coopersville, Mrs. George Cook of Lamont, Mrs. Otto Hecksel of Buckley and Henry at home. They have 25 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Sly of 14 North Seventh Street announce the birth of a son Tuesday at Municipal.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Fisher celebrated their 25^th wedding anniversary on Tuesday, April 14^th.

Miss Clara May Phillips was given a bridal shower on Monday. She will marry Donivan Dilts in the near future.

Miss Sally Kuiper was given a bridal shower on Friday. She will exchange wedding vows with Henry Swarz in May.

You could hardly tell them apart!

Both twins were so happy to be celebrating their 80^th birthday together. That’s the story of the Sunday open house event for pioneer Robinson residents, Mrs. Nellie Pelton and Mrs. Elwin Blakely.

The party was at the home of Mrs. Pelton, at Pelton’s Corners, some seven miles southeast of here.

The girls arrived in Robinson in 1879 with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Stearns who had eight children (five boys and three girls). Another Stearns family arrived ahead of them in Robinson and Stearns Bayou was named after them.

It was pointed out by the twins that their father was a railroad employe in north central Ohio before the family moved here. The family first lived in the Robinson Town Hall area.

The Stearns had three children before the twins arrived and three more after they were born.

Twin Nellie Stearns was married to Jason A. Pelton and never left the township. The couple built the home where Mrs. Pelton has lived for 54 years. Her husband died in 1919.

In the early years, she and her husband operated a general store at the residence for 12 years. Mrs. Pelton still drives an auto and has been for 30 years.

Her children are Mrs. Herbert Krumpeck and Fred Pelton of this city and there are 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Twin Nettie Stearns was married to Elwin Blakely and moved first to Detroit, later to northern Michigan and has resided in the Muskegon area for 42 years. Her husband was with her for the birthday party yesterday. The couple has two sons, Edgar of Muskegon and Lewis of Eaton Rapids and two grandchildren.

The twins will never forget their birthday party Sunday, planned by their children.
