J. DeSpelder 17 October 1901 - Grand Haven Daily Tribune, p. 1 J. DeSpelder, one of the old Dutch pioneers of this county, died this week at his home in Holland. Mr. DeSpelder first settled in Grand Haven when he came from the Netherlands 1848. In the earliest days of the Dutch colony he was engaged to bringing supplies and building material from Grand Haven to Holland. It was his privileges to convey from Grand Haven to Holland the first city charter of that city.
