Robert D. Dykstra – 14 April 1998 – Holland, MI Robert, 66, died Monday 13 Apr 1998 in Holland Community Hospital. Born in Holland 13 Apr 1932, he graduated from Holland High School. He served in the U. S. Airforce during the Korean conflict. Bob started his law enforcement career at the Holland Police Dep. And later as a deputy for Ottawa County Sheriff Dept. In 1973 he served as Chief of Police of Hudsonville and in 1979 he served as sheriff of Ottawa Co. until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of Michigan Sheriff Assn, F. O. P. and West Michigan Law Enforcers. He is survived by his wife, Judy and children – Scott (Kristi) of Hudsonville, Randy (Ruth) of Hudsonville, Jeff and Gail Geerling of Wyoming, Spencer and Madeline of Byron Center, James and Rebeca Geerling of Grand Rapids; eight grandchildren; mother Tena Flint of Holland, parents-in-law, Harris and Esther DeNeff of Holland, brothers and sisters, Donna Mokma of Saugatuck, Gladys Davis of Tucson, AZ, Gene and Glenda Dykstra of Holland; sis-in-law, Arlene Dykstra of Holland Funeral services on Thursday at 1:30 p.m at Central Park Reformed Church. Memorial to American Cancer Society or Forgotten Man Ministries of Ottawa County.
