John E. Hodges, ninety, Civil War and former resident of the Michigan Soldiers’ Home, died yesterday at the home of his nephew, Harvey Sheldon, 1231 Cass Ave. , S. E. where he hade resided the last two years.

Mr. Hodges served in Company R, Eighth Michigan Cavalry, a member of the Grand Army of the Republic, an honorary member of the Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic and an honorary member of the Eva Grey Tent, Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War.

Surviving are two sons, four nephews and a sister. Funeral services will be held Friday at the chapel at the home and interment in the Soldiers’ Home Cemetery.
