Holland City News, Thursday, March 20, 1908 John Kerkhof The death of John Kerkhof occurred last Tuesday afternoon after a long illness, his health first beginning to fail about two years ago. Mr. Kerkhof was 52 years of age and during a busy life had been an important factor in business and political life in Holland Township and in this city. He was supervisor of the township for a number of years, was later supervisor in the city and also represented the fifth ward in the city council. He conducted a plumbing business here for a number of years until forced by failing health to retire. John Kerkhof was an upright man and was highly respected by his associates and friends. They deplore that his years of usefulness were taken away. He is survived by a widow, and four children, Mrs. Ruth Kastine of Waupun, Wisconsin, Mrs. Henrietta Westhoek, Miss Josie Kerkhof and Martin Kerkhof of this city. The funeral will be held Saturday at 1 o’clock from the home on East Seventeenth Street and at 2:30 from the Third Reformed Church. Friends may view the remains Friday from 2 to 8 P. M. at the home.
