Death of Mrs. Enni E. Krasi

Detije Bakker Krasi, wife of Enni E. Krasi, died at the family residence on Fulton street last night at nine-thirty o’clock, after a lingering illness of over a year. During the winter of 1900 Mrs. Krasi had a severe attack of the grippe from which she never fully recovered, it leaving her with throat trouble which developed into a tumorous affection of the throat, which despite the best medical attendance, caused her death.

Mrs. Krasi was born in the village of Janum, province of Vriesland, Netherlands, February 27th, 1829, and came to America with her family in 1847, settling near Sugatuck, from whence they removed to Holland in 1848. She was married in 1849 to Piebe J. Klaver, who died in 1861. She then moved to Port Sheldon, where her father, Wm. J. Bakker, had purchased the Port Sheldon hotel property from the disbanded Port Sheldon company and lived there for a number of years, her father conducting the hotel which was a stopping place on the stage road between Grand Haven and Holland. She was married to Euni Krasi December 3, 1862, and they made their home at Holland until 1872, when they came to this city, where they have since resided.

Mrs. Krasi has long been a member of the First Reformed church and was active in all church work. She came from a large Holland-American family and is survived by three sisters and a brother, Mrs. Harm Borsch of Bass River, Mrs. Ellen Balgooyen, of Holland; Mrs. A. Flietstra of Grand Rapids and Dirk Bakker of this city. She is survived by her husband, eight grand children, three great grand children, and the following children: Mrs. BenVoe, of Grand Rapids; Mrs. G.O. Yonker, of Muskegon; Mrs. W.H. Loutit, of Grand Haven; Edward E. and John E. Krasi of Muskegon.

The funeral will be held from the family residence Friday at two p.m. and the First Reformed church at two-thirty.
