Amos May Amos May was born in Vermont, the son of Lyman and Martha May. He was a farmer. He was a veteran of the Civil War and enlisted in Co. H, 1st New Hampshire Heavy Artillery. He moved to Michigan after the war and died of diarrhea on November 14, 1887, age 58 years, 8 months and 15 days. He is buried in Allendale Township Cemetery, Lot # 149, grave 7. Clara May, possibly a child, died in 1879 is buried in Lot 149, grave 8. The U. S. Federal census of 1880 lists the following: Amos May, age 50, born VT Mary E.
