Coopersville Observer, March 6, 1896 Lawrence Mix Lawrence Mix, the subject of this memoir, died near Tallmadge, Michigan, Sunday, February 23, and interment was made in the Lamont Cemetery, funeral being conducted from the house at 11: a.m., February 25, by Dr. Hammond, of Grand Rapids, the noted spiritualist speaker. Deceased has resided in Warsaw, New York, where he was much loved and respected by his friends and neighbors for his sterling qualities, being a man of unusual energy and business ability. He was a veteran of the Civil War, entering the service as a private in Co. D, First New York Dragoons and later serving in the cavalry branch of the service. He was always an efficient and willing soldier, doing his duty wherever it might call him and the same might be said of him in civil life. He came to his death as a result of disease contracted in the army, hastened by business troubles. Mrs. Weltha Mix, his wife, and Mrs. Flora Cross, his daughter, at whose house the funeral was conducted, desire to thank the friends and neighbors who assisted them, for their assistance to strangers and especially desire to thank the members of the Grand Army.
