Coopersville Observer, February 13, 1920

Ozias Noble

Ozias Noble was born May 24, 1834, in South Edwards, New York, and died February 3, 1920, aged eighty-five years, eight months and ten days. In 1861 he heard his country’s call and enlisted in the Sixtieth Regiment, New York Infantry. After thirteen months service he was discharged for disability.

On March 12, 1863 he was married to Alice Havens in Hermon, New York. To this union, five children were born, all of whom are living: Mrs. Howard Platt and Mrs. C. A. Platt, of Langford, South Dakota; John W. Noble of Hayesville, N. Ca; Mrs. B. H. Titus and Mrs. H. H. Walcott of Coopersville. Besides these, he leaves one brother, Benjamin F. Noble of Syracuse, New York, and six grandchildren to mourn their loss. In February 1865, he enlisted in Tenth Michigan Cavalry, serving until the regiment was discharged.

He was interested in the temperance cause and lived to rejoice that probation was victorious. He was converted to the Christian faith fifty years ago and joined the M. E, Church. He was ready and willing to answer to the "last roll call."

Funeral was held Saturday, February 7, in the M. E. Church, Rev. A. C. Parsons officiating. Burial in Coopersville Cemetery.
