Former Village President Dies
 

Rites for Carl Ohlmann are Held Monday
10 August 1953

Carl Ohlmann, aged 55, former Hudsonville Village president and Georgetown township justice, died at Butterworth Hospital, Grand Rapids Thursday, after a four weeks illness.

A lifelong resident of Georgetown township, he had been a member of the township board since 1934, was a trustee of that group and chairman of the Hudsonville planning commission until his death.

He was a past member of the board of the Christian Reformed Churches, Camp Rogers at Bostwick Lake and was president of the Men's Society.

Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth; five daughters, Mrs. Geraldine Dice of Detroit, Mrs. Orrie Aalbers and Mrs. Marilyn Veenstra of Hudsonville, Miss Maxine Ohlmann, R. N., Liberty, MO, and Miss Carol Ohlmann at home; five brothers, John, Henry, Gilbert and Ben all of Grand Rapids and Albert of Hudsonville; one sister, Mrs. Marian Deters of Hudsonville; five grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday at 2 o'clock at the First Christian Reformed Church with a former pastor, Rev. Thomas Yff officiating. Interment was in the Georgetown cemetery.

Ex-Mayor Carl Ohlmann Passes at 55

Hudsonville - Carl Ohlmann, 55, former Hudsonville mayor and Georgetown township justice, died Thursday at St. Mary's hospital, Grand Rapids, after a four-week illness.

A lifelong resident of Georgetown township, he had been a member of the township board since 1934 and was a trustee of that group and chairman of the Hudsonville planning commission until his death. He was a past member of the board of the Christian Reformed church's Camp Roger at Bostwick lake and was an elder of the church and president of its Men's society. He was village mayor from 1944 to 1947.

Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth; five daughres, Mrs. Gerladine Dice of Detroit, Mrs. Dorothy Albers and Mrs. Marilyn Veenstra of Hudsonville, Miss Maxine Ohlmann of Liberty, MO, and Miss Carol Ohlmann at home; five brothers, John, Henry, Gil and Ben, all of Grand Rapids, and Albert of Hudsonville, and a sister, Mrs. Marion Deters of Hudsonville.

Services will be held at 2 Monday at Hudsonville First Christian Reformed church. Burial in Georgetown cemetery. The body is at the VanderLaan funeral home at Hudsonville.
