Coopersville Observer, June 6, 1919 William Miner Porter William Miner Porter was born in Wayne County, Michigan, September 7, 1838, and departed this life, May 22, 1919, aged eighty years, eight months, and fifteen days. May 19, 1862, he was united in marriage to Maria Rosegrant. In August following he enlisted in the Civil War in which he served three years. In 1873 he united with the Free Methodist Church, living a faithful and consistent member to the last. He leaves to mourn their loss a wife, two sisters, Mrs. Charity Fenton, of Los Angeles, California, and Mrs. Emma Bowers, of Muskegon, one son, Joe of Coopersville, five grandchildren and a host of friends. The last few days of his life he was a great sufferer. He was very patient, often wishing to go to the home prepared for him above. |
