Scanlon, James, Coopersville Observer, May 31, 1907

James Scanlon was born in Alleston, Canada, November 20, 1865, and passed from life at Lamont, Michigan, May 22, 1907.

In early life he moved with his parents to Wisconsin. Later he came to Michigan, settling near Lamont, where his life had since been spent.

April 25, 1900, he was married to Miss Lizzie H. Krotz. Their home was brightened by one child, a son, now six years of age, who with his wife mourns the loss of a kind loving husband and father. Besides his immediate family, he also leaves an aged mother, five brothers, one sister and a wide circle of friends. He was a member of the Maccabees, the Modern Woodmen and Ancient Order of Gleaners.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 25, in the Lamont Congregational Church, Rev. S. B. Ford, of Coopersville, officiating. The large attendance at the church and gathering at the grave indicated the esteem in which he was held by all who know him.
