Death of Dr. A. K. Seip

Dr. A. K. Seip died Sunday at his home on the north side of Macatawa Bay at the age of 60 years. He had been in ill health for nearly two years.

Dr. Seip was born in Easton, Pa. He fought in the army of the Potomac during the Civil War and was promoted to a captaincy. After service in the army, he taught school and then took a medical course at the University of Pennsylvania from which institution he was graduated in 1869. After practicing medicine in the east he went west, practicing his profession in Illinois and Nebraska. Three years ago he came to Holland and after living here two years he moved to Shelby. He returned from Shelby last fall and purchased a home on the north side from Mr. Bignall. Besides his wife, who is a practicing physician, he leaves one child.

The funeral was held from the home Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Adam Clarke officiating.

The following family information is recorded on Dr. Seip’s gravestone in Pilgrim Home Cemetery:A. K. Seip was born in Easton, Pa., Feb. 12, 1842. Ada M. Woodword was born in Grand Haven, Mich., Aug.1, 1860. They were united in marriage in Shelby, Mich., Feb. 4, 1893. hirley L. was born in Shelby, Mich., Aug. 7, 1894. Dr. Seip died on April 27, 1902, in Holland, Mich. He was a captain in Co. H, 2nd Pa. Cavalry
