William Thirkettle William Thirkettle was born in England on August 19, 1833, the son of George and Mary Thirkettle. William was a farmer. He was a veteran of the Civil War and served in the 5th Michigan Cavalry, Co B. He died on December 19, 1885 in Allegan County, cause of death, paralysis. He was buried in Allendale Township Cemetery. The Allendale chapter of the G. A. R., post # 388, was named in honor of William Thirkettle.
