John T. Welton, aged 83 years, died Tuesday at the Kalamazoo Hospital. The deceased was born in Broome County, New York, and he was a Civil War veteran, serving in the 89^th New York Infantry. He came to Michigan in 1868 and operated a farm in Olive Township until nine years ago when he made his home in Holland.

The deceased is survived by four children; B. W. Welton of Holland, Mrs. Effie Sheeler of Akron, Ohio, Clyde S. Welton of Nunica and Mrs. Elsie Scott of Grand Rapids.

The funeral will be held at eleven o’clock Friday forenoon at 31 East 24^th Street, Rev. G. B. Fleming officiating. Interment will take place in the Olive Cemetery.
