Canada Hills Schoolhouse

The Canada Hills School was built in the 1860's.  There was a group of immigrants from Canada that migrated to Georgetown Township and this may be where the school got its name.  It is located on the southeast corner of 36th Avenue and Bauer Road.  With the consolidation of schools in the 1950's the schoolhouse was closed in 1957.  In 1958 it became the home of the Georgetown Grange which still holds regular meetings there.  The students from Canada Hills then went to Bauer Elementary School which was built to accommodate the students from Blendon School No. 1 also.

Some of the teachers at the school in the 1950's were: Artis Cummings, 4th through 8th grade teacher; Martha Hostetter, kindergarten through third grade; Martha married Artis Cummings and her twin sister, Mary, replaced her as teacher of the kindergarten through third grade.
