Hudsonville Teams Honor Former Coach (1966)
The Hudsonville High School basketball team was
one of the many winning teams that Harold Japinga coached during his stay at the
school.
Twenty-one years is not too long to remember with gratitude a conscientious,
enthusiastic coach.
Members of the Hudsonville High School baseball, basketball and football teams
of 1944, 1945, 1946 and 1947 proved the point when they held a reunion last
Tuesday to honor their former coach Harold Japing.
The group attended the Hudsonville-Byron Center basketball game at Hudsonville and had a tour of the new school.
Japinga, who is now a mathematics teacher at
Creston, had winning teams in all three sports. The teams also took
several championships.
Many of the teams members still live in the area. Japinga lives on North
Big Spring Drive in Grandville.
