Death Claims Pioneer Resident

George Tran, a pioneer resident of this community passed away at the
Health Center Saturday, November 8th, after being ill only one day.
Since the death of his wife three years ago he has been living alone on his
farm near the Hackett Lake School.
Born in Ionia County, February 9th, 1892, he came to this community with
his parents in 1896 when he was only for years old. His father, Isaac Tran, was a
lumberman and of course, came where there was timber to harvest. Members
of the family have been in the community since.
George married the former Miss Rebecca Rush in 1912. She passed away in
October 1955.
Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Mary Buss, of South Branch, Michigan;
Mrs. Tressie Ramsey of Wixom, Michigan; Mrs. Virginia Alldaffer of Ann Arbor and Mrs.
Ila Bauer of Jackson Michigan.
Funeral services were held from the Karr Funeral Home with Rev. Charles
Boerger officiating. Burial was in Waverly Cemetery.
