William J. Doherty, 69, Onaway Resident for 40 Years, Buried Sat.
Funeral services for William J. Doherty, 69. of Onaway, were held from St. Paul's Church Saturday morning at
9 o'clock with the Rev. Fr. Joseph Culligan officiating.
Mr. Doherty had been in ill health for several years due to a heart ailment, and death came on Wednesday,
August 7th, at the Onaway Receiving Hospital where he had been taken for treatment three weeks ago.
Born in Canada, May 14, 1871, William Doherty came to Michigan at the age of four years. He has been a resident
of this community for the past 40 years. Following his marriage in 1902 he and Mrs. Doherty made their home in Onaway.
Mrs. Doherty passed away in 1919.
Surviving Mr. Doherty are four daughters and one son, namely: Mrs. Thomas Rudolph, Conover, Wis; Mrs. Wallace
Seyfert, Eagle River, Wis.; Mrs. Ernest Zbanek, and Miss Thelia Doherty, Detroit; and James Doherty whose whereabouts
are unknown, He also leaves five grandchildren.
Interment was in the St. Paul Cemetery and acting pallbearers were: E.T. Burns, Albert Ellenberger, James Noon,
Joe Harworth, George Goupell and Mr. Bray.
Out-of-town relatives who attended the funeral were Mrs. Thomas Rudolph of Conover, Wis.; Mrs. Wallace Seyfert of
Eagle River, Wis.; and Mrs. Ernest Zibanek of Detroit.
