CAPTION: Onaway State Park Black Lake Onaway, Mich By the way....When on the Way.... See Onaway
This week we will share one of our many pictures of the Onaway State Park. The picture was taken from in front
of the pavilion. The beautiful dock went out to where one could dive and not hit bottom. Take note of
the 20-foot water slide. Back in the 1930s and 1940s, when the Farmers' Dairy Picnic was held at the park
we find that at some years more than 2,000 people attended this outing. Some 35 years ago my family cleaned
out the "Morgan's Spring" and sent a water sample to be tested. The test came back as a good well. The flow is
not as big today, but it is still a good place to get a good cold drink. Our Onaway State Park holds many stories
dear to my heart. ( This historic pavilion was destroyed by fire in 2012),
