CAPTION:Black Lake, Onaway, Mich.
Our picture this week comes from our postcard collection. The picture is looking south at what our locals our
age today still refer to as "The Curve." I have many fond memories of swimming and picnics there. It was a safe
place for nonswimmers and children alike, as you had to walk out into the lake for a long ways to get past your
knees. Many children got their bath at the curve during the summer. How many, of you old-timers out there can
relate to a bar of sandy Palmolive Soap. Sometimes that bar of soap got dropped often. The Curve had its
drawbacks also, like broken beer bottles, leaches and poison ivy, just to mention a few. Next week we will
turn north and see what's in that direction. And no Bob H., the bird on the stump is not a partridge.
