CAPTION: At the last meeting (November 1978) under the leadership of Onaway mayor Robert Nelson, he thanked the commissioners for their cooperation during his one-year term: "It has been a privilege serving on the commission with such fine gentlemen." He urged the continuation of work on Onaway's new recreation area be pursued diligently. Commissioner Harry Moran, Jr. was to assume mayoral duties at the following meeting for a one-year term. Commissioner Ted Wall thanked Nelson for his leadership and his colleagues' on the commission for support during his year on the commission. In other Onaway news, a sizeable reward of $3,600 was being offered for the arrest and conviction of the person who shot a bald eagle, according to Department of Natural Resources conservation officer Ed Pike...Spell-A-Thon winners for the United Way were Lori Freeman, Wendy Herring, Penny Marek and Sandra Vought.
