CAPTION: Imagine a snow-filled driveway more than 50,000 miles long and you will have an idea
of the amount of white stuff Carl Badgero pushed in 10 years with the city of Onaway. Working
on snow duty Badgero had plowed the equivalent of 250 trips to California. In thousands of
miles of slipping and sliding through Onaway's streets and alleys throwing a roostertail
of snow over ditches and parked cars, he never hit another vehicle or mailbox. The winter of
1978-1979 would be his last on the road with retirement in sight...In other Onaway news, Jim
Chaskey and his wife JoAnn were excited to have won $5,000 in Michigan's instant lottery. Jim
carried his winning ticket for 14 hours before noticing he won. Asked what he had planned to do
with the windfall, he said he was going to pay bills and remodel their kitchen.
