Sometime around 1920 one could walk into a showroom at the Ford or Chevrolet dealership and buy a new car.
Over the years Onaway has had many new car sales, including Ford, Chevrolet, Buick, Dodge, Desoto, Plymouth, Durant, International and Rio.
Our first picture this week is inside of the Ford dealership. Most of the cars appear to be 1919 or 1920 Model T touring cars.
I will leave this information open for discussion, as I know there are experts in this field ready to share what they know.
If one looks closely, you can see that most of the cars have three windows in the convertible top. We know that the 1919 had three windows.
One would have to look at this line of new cars and wonder how long it has been since any dealership in Onaway had 10 new cars for sale on the same day.
The mechanic in the second picture is John Koepke.
His grandson Frank Dobrowski lives in Boyne City and shared the pictures with us.
Next week we will take you outside the showroom and share some more information.
