CAPTION: Jess King
This week's picture is of Jess King, a friend of my Dad. I often went to see Jess with my Dad.
They talked fishing, hunting and trapping. Jess gave me some of his handmade decoys that I used for many years
on the Tower Pond.
Unfortunately they were in my lunch box/tackle box when someone decided to burn my fish shanty. We never
found a burned lunch box in the ruins.
Back to Jess. This 43-inch, 20-pound, 6-ounce northern pike was speared in Black Lake in January of 1954, only
60 years ago.
You fishermen need to look close at Jess' spear. It has three tines and they are very small. It must have been
a tussle for this little guy.
Take note of Jess' four-buckle Arctics, straight from the Gambles Store.
