CAPTION: When Central Michigan University walloped Kent State 49-10, much of the Chippewas' success was credited to center Jeff Visner, a former Onaway all-stater. In fact, coach Roy Kramer was so impressed with Visner's performance that he named him the offensive player of the week. It was the first time in his three-year career that he had earned the honor. "Jeff had a tremendous first half for us," Kramer said, noting that Visner threw key blocks on two of Central's first half touchdowns, as well as on a two-point conversion. In other Onaway News, Bob Merrick broke the school record for points scored in a football season. His total 96 points edged out Colin Freel's 1975 record of 94 points. Onaway won its final game of the season over Cheboygan Catholic High School, 65-6.
