CAPTION: Through the doors of the Onaway Area Chamber of Commerce (pictured above) came the
biggest events of the area. This is the former chamber building that used to be along State Street.
In other Onaway News, the Onaway Area Sports Boosters Club had taken on the project of helping to
obtain and install an electric scoreboard for the football field. The club sold pop, candy, donuts
and coffee at football and basketball games and engaged in various other fundraising activities, including
a variety show. For the scoreboard project, the club was starting a "bucks for scoreboard" fundraiser.
The cost was estimated at between $2,600 to $3,000. It would include an electric scoreboard and
control booth to house the controls. The plan was to place a plaque on the control booth.
