CAPTION: Three members of the 1979 Onaway High School football team were named to the all-state team by the United Press International poll of state coaches. Ground-gaining Pat Crowe was listed on the first team as an offensive running back. Mike Decker earned an honorable mention at the same position, while Rick Waldie earned honorable mention as a defensive back to earn a first-team slot on the Class C and D rosters. In other Onaway news, there were only a few days left in the firearm deer season. Although the number of deer taken in 1979 were lower than 1978, the size of the animals was generally larger. Country Star put out a two-page advertisement spread and was selling an eight-pack of 1/2 liter bottles for $1.38, plus deposit. A gallon of Borden's low-fat milk was nearly the same price, $1.35, while 1/2 gallon of Glacier Club ice cream was going for 99 cents.
