CAPTION: The Onaway Lions Club presented a gift of an eye-bank kit to Russell Memorial Hospital to facilitate the transfer of corneal tissue. Club president Newt Chapman Jr.(left) was pictured with hospital administrator Gary Rellinger, club secretary Bob Ransom and Lions eye-bank chairman Brian Veihl. In other Onaway news, Onaway High School athletic director Jim Hall asked members of the Onaway Area Community Schools board of education to consider conducting summer athletic clinics at the school. He said a number of students traveled during the summer months at considerable expense...Victory Kuhlman was named Presque Isle County undersheriff by sheriff Mike Peltz. Kuhlman was a longtime police officer, graduating from Onaway High School and attending Alpena Community College. From 1969 to 1971, he served in the armed forces as a member of the military police. He was hired by former sheriff Mel Smith.
