CAPTION: From Sept. 4, 1953 - Above is an ad from Onaway Sports Shop. On the front-page was this story:
One hundred-eighty members and friends of the Black Lake Association attended the third annual "Get Acquainted"
dinner at St. Paul Catholic Church Hall. Art Clinton, president of the association, presided over the meeting
and introduced a conservation officer, who answered questions about swimmer's itch and walleye plants. Clinton
said there were two projects that were to start in 1954. One was the building of a boat landing at the state
park and the other was developing a bathing beach on the sandy ledge along the east shore of the park. In another
Onaway News story: Four men from the county were to leave Rogers City for Detroit to be inducted into the Armed
Services. They included Ivan J. Markey, Rogers City; Leonard Roznowski, Posen, who was the group leader; Conrad
Prall, Hawks; Leonard Kasuba, Dearborn (formerly of Rogers City).
