CAPTION: Plans were in the works to re-open a clothing manufacturing facility in Onaway following the closing of the Northern Garment factory in January (1966). Ray Joseph, executive director of the Normandy Dress Company, a Bay City firm with experience in the clothing manufacturing business, wanted to see if there was enough interest from former employees before making a final decision on whether or not to locate a branch in Onaway. Joseph told Onaway Industrial Development Corporation president Tom Ellenberger (pointing in the photo) that if the response of the former employees were satisfactory, he would put the plant back in operation by April 11 with approximately 26 employees. There was a front page bulletin announcing the meeting in the community room at Presque Isle Electric Cooperative. In other Onaway News, Pvt. David S. Walker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde M. Walof Millersburg, completed a clerical course at the Army Training Center, Fort Knox, Kentucky.
