CAPTION: There were substantial increases reflected in the statement of condition published by Onaway
State Bank. Increases in all departments were well above those in 1965. Otto Marquardt, executive
vice president and cashier of the bank prepared a statement for the Onaway News. "The board of directors
and the bank staff of the Onaway State Bank are highly pleased with the progress shown over the past year."
stated Marquardt. "Especially noteworthy are the increases in bank assets, loans and bank capital." In
other Onaway News, was a large ad purchased by Painter Petroleum, thanking all who participated in a
promotion to give away a pony named, Tar Baby. The winner was Tim Hyde, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles "Chuck" Hyde of
Onaway. "It is a pleasure to welcome the new customers we gained and, of course, we are always
pleased to provide the highest service," the ad stated.
