CAPTION: An Onaway News subscriber from Pontiac sent the editor a letter about a pigeon that flew home. Donald
McQuaid wrote: " I was looking out our window and saw a pigeon in distress on our lawn. On going to its rescue
and examining the bird I found it had been shot with a pellet gun." McQuaid said he nursed the bird back to
health, but did not have the pellet removed. "Then I sent him to Onaway to the Donald Hoffmeyer home. The
pigeon was transported in a box in the trunk of the car. Upon arrival in Onaway he was put in a cage but
somehow got out. The next day the bird was back in Pontiac. "He was tired, hungry and thirsty. He has a
home forever."
