  This week's history comes from taking a walk down Shaw Street to the west.  Starting out on the left we see
a set of steps going to the house that some of us remember as the home that Lawrence Post raised his family in.
The house is gone now.  The first nice home was owned by the Shaw family, which was later moved to Black Lake.
The second home was the Gumm's family Home.  They owned the Gumm's Mercantile store on Main Street that is now
Parrott's Outpost.  we find a bit of history here as Judy Garland was related to the Gumm's family.  Judy spent
a two week summer vacation here with her in-laws.  The house is now owned by our good friends Warren and Helen
Trafelet.  The next house was owned by the Lockwood family.  One should take note here that Oak Street did not
come down the hill at this time. This home and the next home are gone today.  The fifth house is still standing
and is an occupied residence.  There are seven sets of the original steps still in place today.  Some go to the
original homes and some are just there. Take note of the boardwalk now somewhat replaced by a sidewalk.  The
small maple trees are at least 110 years old today.  some of them are more than 30 inches thick, and many of them
