This week's photo is of the Sinclair gas station that was owned by Cliff Beauregard. Today one would be looking
at the front of the Marathon station owned by Jac and Candy Faith. Take note of the six-hitch team proudly
pulling the Goebel Brewing Co. Wagon of Detroit. This landmark gas station has been an icon for many years at the
intersection of M-33 and M-68. Some of our readers will know it as Tom's Speedway, run by Tom Smith. Some will
remember it as Painter Petroleum, run by Bill Painter, and still others will remember it as Arkwood's Service
Station, run by Randy Arkwood. Perry Johnson was there at one time, as was Robert Leslie. I am sure there were
others that I don't remember. One would wonder what the price of gas was back then. (courtesy photo)
