Caption #1: State Street looking west from Lynn Street.
This week's picture is at the corner of State Street and Lynn Street, looking west.
The first building on the right is Peterman's Market. The next building is a barber shop and billiard
hall. Fred Warner ran the billiard hall when he first came to Onaway.
The next building is Lipshield's second store. This building had man faces and names before being demolished
in October of 1995, by Conan, the Moran Iron Works crane, to make a parking lot for Tom's Market.
The drug store is the next building. The Colonial Hotel, Jakie Belins clothing store and the post office
were lost to a fire making the vacant space between the drug store and Dr. Carpenter's house.
On the left side is the State Theater and Wingard's Bakery. One can see the steeple on the bank. Also
note that there are streetlights and a hitching post but no pavement.
One would have to wonder how many of the cars on State Street have an Onaway steering wheel.
