This compilation was started by Josephine beginning in 30 April 1997 and ending 30 May 1997. She used the existing cemetery books, graciously loaned to her by township clerk, Beverly Greshaw, with the willing permission and participation of the Burr Oak Township Board. Also for this compilation, She used her own genealogical research to fill in where there were blanks from information she'd gathered at the county courthouse vital records, from obituaries printed in the Burr Oak Acorn, a weekly newspaper, obituaries collected over the years by her grandmother, mother and aunts as well as those collected and loaned to her by Mrs Shirley Elmer. Also, wewould be remiss if I didn't acknowledge and give credit to the late Geneva Smith for the very important role she played in making our cemetery records as complete as they are today. We're most appreciative of her work that came before all of us and we are especially grateful to her daughter, Mrs. Shirley Elmer in allowing Josephine to use her mother's papers to make this as complete a record as possible.
