Alfred
Friars was born in 1828 Wards Creek, King County, New Brunswick Canada. He married Sarah Walker 1853 in New Brunswick.
There were born to
this union, eight children, Olive was born 1856 New Brunswick.
The Friars family
then ventured west to Oxford County,
Ontario Canada where
Peter, James, Elizabeth, and Udorah were born. Once again the Friars family
ventured west and in 1865 settled in the community of Dayton Township,
Tuscola County, Michigan, where John Henry, Mary and Elda were born. The Name Friars was at some point in time
changed to Fryers.
Alfred in
mentioned in the History of Tuscola
County published in 1883.
His biography says he served as the Justice of the Peace in the Dayton Community and also
participated in other community jobs such as director of local school district
#2 in Dayton.
Alfred and Sarah
owned a farm in section 20 of Dayton
and stayed in the Dayton
Community until their deaths. They are
both buried at the West Dayton Cemetery
