Anna Kelly Henry
Anna M. Kelly married Earl W. Henry, the son of William C. and Jessie M. (Cogswell) Henry of South Haven. Anna and Earl had one daughter, Anna Henry.

Della Agnes (Henry) Newton
Della Agnes Henry was born March 21, 1908 in South Haven. She married Cecil Arthur Newton on March 24, 1925 in South Haven, and was the daughter of William C. and Jessie M. (Cogswell) Henry. Della and Cecil had six children:  Margaret, Esther, Bertha, Richard, Dorothy and Lois. Della died Jan. 3, 1941. She and Cecil are both buried at Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven.

Cecil Arthur Newton
Cecil Arthur Newton was the son of Harry V. and Bertha A. (Jillson) Newton. He married Della Agnes Henry in South Haven on March 24, 1925. Cecil and Della had six children: Margaret, Esther, Bertha, Richard, Dorothy and Lois. He died June 8, 1969 in Geneva Twp. He and Della are both buried at Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven.

Cecil Newton and Howard Henry
On the left is my grandfather, Cecil Arthur Newton, with his brother-in-law, Howard Henry. Cecil was the son of Harry and Bertha (Jillson) Newton. He married Della Agnes Henry on March 24, 1925 in South Haven. Howard Henry was my grandmother's brother and the son of William and Jessie (Cogswell) Henry. He was born in 1914.

On the left is Jessie (Cogswell) Henry. On the right is her daughter, Myrtle Henry. Jessie married William C. Henry and together they raised five children, Della, Claude, Howard, Myrtle and Earl, while farming for a living.

Frank Alden Jillson, Sr.
This is Frank Alden Jillson Sr., son of Arthur B. Jillson and Emma Minnie Beal. He was born March 1, 1898 and died. Sept. 20, 1952. He served in World War I and married Alice Braden on Aug. 23, 1920 in Kalamazoo. Frank and Alice had three children: Frank, Lois and Bonnie.

Note 1: Sally Romelia (Parmenter) Jillson was born May 13, 1845 in Rodman, Jefferson Co., NY and died Aug. 1, 1922 in South Haven. She was the daughter of Abraham L. and Lucy (Gardner) Parmenter. Sally, who was known by her middle name of Romelia, married Alden Jillson of New York on Dec. 18, 1865. Romelia and Alden moved to the South Haven area in 1877 where they located on a farm South of the Law Schoolhouse. They had three children: Bertha A. Jillson, Burleigh A. Jillson and Arthur Burley  Jillson. Romelia is buried in Lakeview Cemetery, South Haven.
Note 2: Harry was the son of Abram W. and Phoebe Ann (Lewis) Newton, born Sept. 2, 1871 in Alama Twp., Allegan Co., MI and died Feb. 13, 1931 in Mayfield, Grand Traverse Co., MI. He was a school teacher. Bertha A. Jillson was the daughter of Alden and Sally Romelia (Parmenter) Jillson. Bertha A. was born Jan. 20, 1876 in New York and moved with her family to South Haven in 1877. She died in 1955 and is buried at Lakeview Cemetery, South Haven. Harry and Bertha had five children: Cecil Arthur Newton, Virgil Newton, Vernon W. Newton, Earl A. Newton and Clara A. Newton.
Note 3: Arthur was the son of Alden and Romelia Jillson. Emma was the daughter of Franklin and Susan (Teachout) Beal. Arthur died of pneumonia in South Haven on Feb. 10, 1908. Emma died at the Kalamazoo State Hospital on Jan. 26, 1931. Arthur and Emma had two sons: Ralph Eugine Jillson and Frank Alden Jillson.
Note 4: Frank Alden Jillson was born March 1, 1898 in South Haven and died Sept. 20, 1952 in Holland, MI. He was the son of Arthur and Emma (Beal) Jillson, and married Alice M. Braden on Aug. 23, 1920 in Kalamazoo. They had three children: Frank Jillson Jr., Lois Jillson and Bonnie Jillson. Frank was a veteran of World War I.
Note 5: This is my mother, Bertha M. Newton, at the age of 16. She was the daughter of Cecil and Della (Henry) Newton. Born on June 24, 1929, she married Charles Creameans Jr. on May 6, 1951 in South Haven. They had three children: Cathy Creameans, Charles Creameans III and Arlene Creameans. Bertha died on May 25, 2003 and is buried, along with her husband, in Lee Township Cemetery, Allegan Co., MI.
Note 6: Leonard K. Jillson was the son of Joseph and Betsy (King) Jillson and brother to Alden Jillson. Leonard married Charlotte Augusta Phillips in 1867. Leonard and his wife came to Michigan in 1868 and were two of the South Haven area's pioneers. At the beginning of the Civil War, he enlisted as a Private in the 12th Michigan Infantry and served during the entire war. He was 2nd Lt.of Co. H, 12th Michigan Veteran Volunteers when he was discharged. Leonard and Betsy had eight chidlren: Charles, Harry, Stanley, LeRoy, George, William, Lottie and Grant. He and Charlotte are both buried at Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven.
Note 7: This is my great-grandfather, William C. Henry. He was born Dec. 25, 1862 and died April 30, 1945, the son of Daniel and Hannah (Dingman) Henry. He married Jessie Cogswell, also of South Haven. William and Jessie had five children: Della, Claude, Howard, Myrtle and Earl. William was a farmer and was born in a home that stood just a little bit South and East of Blue Star Highway. William was a farmer and brought his produce into South Haven, where he sold it to private families, tourists, and resorts on the city's north side.  He and his wife Jessie (Cogswell) Jillson raised five children: Della, Claude, Howard, Myrtle, and Earl. William is buried at Lakeview Cemetery, South Haven.
