Trenton
After the War of 1812 Abram Caleb Truax acquired a large tract of land here and built a sawmill, church and story. In 1827 it was organized as Monguagon Township. The village of Truaxton was platted in 1834. The name was changed to Truago in 1837 and Trenton in 1847 for the limestone type mined here. Trenton was officially incorporated as a village in 1855. In 1929 Trenton annexed the neighboring village of Sibley. It became a city in 1957. |
