SAINT
LADISLAUS CATHOLIC CHURCH AND SCHOOL
2730 Caniff Avenue Hamtramck, Michigan 48212 |
Named after Blessed Ladislaus of Gielnow, patron of Poland, Galicia, and Lithuania, he died on May 4, his feast days are May 11 and September 20. |
The students mascot was
"The Greyhound" and their school colors were the "red and
grey". The school song was "St. Ladislaus We Sing To
You". The school was run by the Sisters of St. Francis from
1921-1982. If you take a good look at the school picture, taken in the
1960's, you will see the old underground walkway. This walkway took the
students across the street underground, safely crossing the busy street
of Caniff.
Favorite hangout for afterschool was Sweetland's Confectionary on Joseph Campau.

Class Song: ST. LADISLAUS WE SING TO
YOU
St. Ladislaus We sing to you
for there is nothing else we'd rather do
Boys and Girls all gather round
and we will sing this ripping roaring song
We are the scarlet and the grey--hounds too
and we will win you bet we can!
We are the same who put the AIM in fame
always game. St. Ladislaus High!
Cheer, Cheer for our dear old school
Strike up the anvil calling her name
Send the volley cheer on high
St. Lads will thunder from the sky
Whether the odds be great or small
St. Ladislaus will win over all
While her loyal sons go marching
onward to victory--RAH RAH RAH
