How to Access Wayne County Probate Records on FamilySearch

 

Getting to the records can be a little tricky, so here is a step-by-step list to get
you into the Wayne County estate files. The methodology is identical for any other
Michigan county that has been or will be digitized as part of this project.

1. Go to https://www.familysearch.org/.
2. Click on the Search tab along the top of the page.
3. Click on Images from that dropdown.
4. Log in to FamilySearch with your credentials.
5. In the Place search box, type in Wayne Michigan United States (it will start to
auto-fill in, select it, then click the blue Search button).
6. On the right-hand rail, scroll down and click on Show Advanced Search.
7. On the right-hand rail, select Probate Estate Case Files from the Record Type
field.
8. On the right-hand rail, scroll down to the Keyword field.
9. Type in the surname of the individual you are researching. Click the blue Update
button.
10.The search results will turn up, decedents’ names are far to the right under the
Volume heading. Click on any of the hits to look at the file. All set!
