Welcome to this website which is a part of MIGenWeb and USGenWeb, a network of websites that provide free online genealogical information.
Calhoun County was established on October 19, 1829, and named in honor of John C. Calhoun, who was the vice president at that time in the Andrew Jackson administration. The first county government was organized on March 6, 1833. The largest city is Battle Creek which is known as the Cereal City as it was the original home of the Kellogg and Post cereal companies. The county seat is Marshall.
Prior to European settlers arrival the area was the home of the Pottowatomi and Ottawa tribes.
