Cheboygan County Histories of
Towns & Townships
|
Frenchmen were the first to arrive in Cheboygan County. Trappers stopped at the county's northern shore,
near the mouth of the Cheboygan River, which is now known as the city of Cheboygan. The first settlers
arrived in 1844, and until the first sawmill was built in the 1870's.
Below is a listing of all the towns and townships in Cheboygan County. Histories are not yet available
for all towns or townships. Some areas have full narratives, while others have just a line or two. If
you have any material you would like to contribute to assist in completing this project, please email it
to me using the link at the bottom.
