Goodrich Cemetery Pittsford Township
In Section 14; on the north side of M-34 in the 1300 block, about 41/2 miles east
of Pittsford village. There are many burials with no stones. Most
stones face west and many old stones are worn so that the verses
are difficult to read.
The land on which the cemetery is located was originally a part
of the Ozen KEITH farm. He settled on the east half of section
23 of Pittsford township in 1834. His friend, Daniel LOOMIS, took
the west half of the same section. In the winter of 1835-1836
Ozen cleared an acre of land for a cemetery and in the summer
of 1836 he buried his 86 year old mother there. Hers was the first
burial in the cemetery. Later the rest of the half section was
sold to George GOODRICH and Austin NYE.
This information comes from the obituary of Ozen KEITH who died
27 December 1885.
