Amos Braman and Siblings.

Karens mother wrote on the back Granpa Braman and his brother & sisters.

BELOW IS WHAT KAREN KNOWS ABOUT AMOS BRAMAN:

Amos Braman is first row left, wearing a vest. He was born in Washington County, New York, in 1842. His mother died when he was very young, and he went to live with his sister Mary Ann (Braman) Hopkins (1826-1899). Mary Ann was married to Eli D. Hopkins (1824-1902). Amos died in Clark County, Wisconsin, in 1918.

In about 1845, the Hopkins family moved to Kalamazoo, and Amos moved with them. Although Amos married Nancy Fish, daughter of Lyman and Hannah (King) Fish in 1862 and moved from Kalamazoo to Wisconsin shortly after their marriage, the Hopkins remained in Kalamazoo. They are buried in the Alamo Center Cemetery.

Mary Ann and Eli had eight children: Anna Irene, Irene, Ezra, Mariette, Otis, Adeline, Ella, and Estella.

As far as I know, most or all of the other Bramans remained in New York.  Although the people in the photo do look like they could be siblings, I have no idea if my mother's note was correct or where the photo was taken. I would love to be able to identify some of the others and thought that someone researching Mary Ann and Eli may have a photo of her.

If you look closely on the left side of the photo, there's a water faucet. I'm not sure when outdoor water faucets started being installed outdoors, but it makes me think the site was either a commercial building or the home of someone fairly wealthy.

If you can identify anyone in this photo. Please email Karen
