A newspaper article from 1832, on building a road to Lapeer.


AN ACT to provide for laying out a certain Territorial road.

Be it enacted by the Legislative Council of the Territory of Michigan, That a Territorial road shall be laid out and established, running from the village of Rochester, in the county of Oakland, on the most direct and eligible route to the county seat of the county of Lapeer.

SEC. 2. William Burbank, Jesse Deekers, and Needham Hemmingway, be, and they are hereby appointed commissioners to lay out and establish said road.

SEC. 3. The expense of laying out and establishing said road shall not be charged to, or paid for, from the treasury of the Territory.
