THE IMLAY CITY BAND

This band has been organized about two years and is made up of the most active and prominent citizens of the village. They are all amateurs but are enthusiastic and enterprising. They have two sets of instruments and a tasteful, handsome uniform of navy blue fatigue coat, black pants with a white stripe and regulation cap. Last year they had several weeks instruction from Prof. J. H. Gardner, leader of the famous Flint band, under whose tuition they have also been for the past fortnight or more. Mr. Krusen, their leader, was a member of the Flint band last season, and accompanied that organization on their Centennial trip. The band are hard workers and are attaining good proficiency as the result of their skillful instruction and close application. No band, in our opinion, promises better for the future. The officers of their organization are as follows: President, E. B. Griffith; Leader, N. J. Krusen; Treasurer, F. E. Eldredge, Drum major, Henry Bartlett. Leader Krusen has the following players to be proud of as examples of his training: E flat, Thos. Delaney; 1st B flat, H. A. Quackenbush; solo-alto, M. J. Hoskins, 1st alto, Henry Sanford; 2nd alto, H. H. Lyons; 1st tenor, E. B. Griffith; 2nd tenor, Geo. Cook; baritone, Chas. Kempf, B flat base, F. E. Eldridge, base drum, P. Wright; square drum, Geo. Perkins, cymbals, Geo. Lemker.
