LAPEER DEMOCRATS.

Delegates to State, Congressional and Senatorial Convention—Winaus Commended.

LAPEER, August 3.—The Lapeer County Democracy met in convention here to-day for the selection of delegates to the state, congressional and senatorial conventions. There was a large turnout of enthusiastic Democrats from all the townships of the county present.

H. C. Kudner, chairman of the county committee, called the convention to order.

Judge Stickney was chosen chairman of the convention, and made a ringing speech during which the assemblage applauded vociferously at every mention of Mr. Cleveland's name.

F. P. Andrus, of Almont, was chosen secretary, and after the usual formalities of organization, the following delegates were chosen:

State convention—H. C. Kudner, Lapeer; J. F. Hopkins, Almont; R. V. Langdon, North Branch; Anthony Williams, Attica; Morris Moore, Elba; A. L. Peabody, Columbiaville; Lyman H. Peck, Attica; Simon P. Gates, Burnside; James Murphy, Lapeer; Alphonzo Baldwin, Hadley; John Freer, Metamora.

Congressional convention—Wm. Halpin, Lapeer; Col. I. T. Beach, Almont; John M. Wattles, Lapeer; Dr. J. P. Eggleston, Imlay; David Donaldson, Attica; John Campbell, Metamora; Arthur Howland, Elba; Nathan Stover, Burlington; Henry Schlegel, Lapeer; John B. Wilson, Lapeer; John W. Peck, Attica.

Senatorial—B. F. Johnston, Almont; Dr. J. P. Eggleston, Imlay; Robert Stewart, Elba; Charles Burlingham, Hadley; Gilson D. Miller, North Branch; J. B. Muir, Imlay City; Capt. O. A. Williams, Lapeer; Daniel Evans, Mayfield; Andrew Brown, Marathon; L. W. Hinman, Lapeer; Miles Valentine, Mayfield.

The convention passed a resolution commending the able and economical administration of Gov. Winans and his staff of state officers.
