SLIGHT ACCIDENT SUNDAY FOLLOWED BY DEATH George Ranshaw and wife, 301 Colburn Avenue, spent Sunday with their nephews, Charles and Raymond Valentine, near Chippewa Lake. On their way home yesterday afternoon in a buggy, a slight accident caused the whiffle-tree to become loosened, and freed the horses from the buggy. Raymond Valentine, who was driving, lost the lines and in reaching for them, Mr. Ranshaw was thrown against the dash board. The horses were stopped, almost immediately and it seemed that no serious damage was done and no one hurt, but on arriving home, Mr. Ranshaw complained of a severe pain in his chest. Dr. Terrill was called and he administered medicine to stop the pain. About one hour later, however, the pain became more intense and Dr. Terrill was again called but could not be found. Dr. Lynch was finally located and hurried to the house. Mr. Ranshaw continued to get worse and just as Dr. Lynch reached the house, he passed away. Mr. Ranshaw was born in England, May 2, 1848. He has been a resident of this city for many years. Those who survive him besides the widow are three sons and two daughters. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 o'clock from the residence. Interment in Highland View cemetery. |
